Specialty Group Clinics and Camps will be held throughout the season for men, women, and juniors, targeting specific areas of the game such as Driving, Iron Shots, Short Game, and Putting. WE feel that group learning is a great way to not only learn in a comfortable environment but to makes some friend along the way.
We are thankful to have the ability to teach on the driving range and on our 9-hole par-3 course as well. This gives the ability of our instructors to work on building a golf swing and an understanding of playing this wonderful game of golf.

Passion for teaching the golf swing has led me to focus on a few key areas of player development centered on my love of understanding how players perform within their body abilities and mechanics. For the past 5 years I have been teaching at Severna Park Golf Center with a focus on working with players of all ages and abilities. We work on developing their potential to build an effortless and repeatable golf swing and I believe everyone can have the ability to grow within this great game of golf.

Winnie Sewell, LPGA Instructor, PGA Teaching & Club Professional
I fell in love with the game of golf when I was 11 years old! One summer day a neighbor showed me how to hold a golf club and hit whiffle balls in the back yard. A few swings were all it took to hook me on golf for the rest of my life!
During my 35 golf career, I have owned and operated a retail golf shop, served as Head Golf Professional at South River Golf Club, and spent the last 16 years in several managerial capacities at Severna Park Golf Center. Currently, I am only teaching golf. I am one of the fortunate few to have been able to make a living doing what I love!
My years of teaching experience have led me to understand that golf is an individual journey. We are all motivated to play the game for our own reasons. We all learn and process information in our own way. I have found that there are many ways to say the same thing. An effective golf instructor will tap into your particular learning style and assist you in achieving your golf goals at whatever level you play. As such, I have successfully worked with students of all ages (4-82), and all physical abilities. One of my greatest joys was to work with children and adults for Special Olympics competitions. I have worked with several legally blind students as well as those with prosthetic limbs. Recently, I worked with a group of Women Disabled Veterans and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and made new friends.
I would love to work with you, individually or in a group, to help you find your swing. If you need help finding the correct golf equipment, I will help you navigate that process. Most important of all, I would be happy to share this wonderful game with you, and help you discover the joy in playing a sport that you can enjoy for the rest of your life!

I started my PGA career in 1977 as an apprentice at Paint Branch GC and was elected to PGA Class A membership in 1981. I had the privilege to be honored in the Quarter Century Club in 2006. I have spent the previous 15 years as Golf Director for the County Parks Department’s three golf courses and Executive Director of The First Tee Prince George’s County and currently spend my time coaching at Severna Park Golf Center.
